Workshop- Enabling Whistleblowers: International Regulations and Responsibilities
On 7th September 2017, our research team held a workshop on 'Enabling Whistleblowers: International Regulations and Responsibilities' alongside Whistleblowers UK.
The event took place at the 35th Cambridge International Symposium on Economic Crime.
We were delighted to invite a wide range of excellent panel discussants. These included: Ms Dana Gold, Director of Education & Strategic Partnerships, and Mr Tom Devine, Legal Director, both from the Government Accountability Project, Washington DC; Mr John Devitt, Chief Executive, Transparency International Ireland, Dublin; Mr Howard Brown, US Attorney and UK Solicitor Advocate, Chairman, H.S Brown Ltd, London; Dr Justin Scholsberg, Lecturer in Journalism and Media, Birkbeck, University of London. Hosts Ms Georgina Halford-Hall, CEO Whistleblowers UK; Professor Marianna Fotaki, Warwick Business School, UK and Professor Kate Kenny, Queen’s University Belfast, Northern Ireland also presented.
The event focused on two key issues relating to whistleblowing today: 'Enabling Whistleblowers' through the role of regulators and those who are accountable for supporting disclosures, and 'Managing Disclosures', which focused on how organisations can support whistleblowing through effective speak-up arrangements.
